*MITIGA Solutions* is a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center
(BSC), a world-renowned institution with over two decades of experience in
developing and implementing models in the fields of geophysics, volcanology
and atmospheric science. MITIGAâ??s main focus is to develop and
commercialize solutions capable to evaluate and manage natural and
anthropogenic hazards, helping clients across multiple industries to
improve their risk management. The company offers a full-time contract
starting from 01/10/2019 in a good and talented working environment and a
competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of
the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona. The
candidate will join a young, dynamic, multicultural and entrepreneurial
team devoted to software development for client services.

*Job description and key duties*: the candidate will enroll in two of the
key companyâ??s business lines; operational forecast of impacts of
atmospheric hazards (i.e.volcanic ash) on civil aviation and data science
for the evaluation of hazards, in particular of tephra fallout and
dispersal. Transfer of cutting-edge research developments into commercial
products, participating both, on the product development and the operation
of the service.

*Candidate requirements*: degree on volcanology, physics or geosciences
(PhD is not strictly necessary but will be valued as a plus). Professional
Experience on tephra dispersal forecast and modelling of related
hazards. Knowledge of numerical weather prediction models and comprehension
of global/regional meteorological datasets. Knowledge of atmospheric
composition modeling will be highly valued. Programming on Python,
Fortran and shell scripting. Also, knowledge about software management
tools such as version control, documentation, testing, etc, will be valued.
Proficiency in English; basic handling of Spanish recommended.
