The International Geological Congress (IGC) was first held in Paris in 1878. Now meeting every 4 years, it remains one of the major international gatherings of the geological community. The 36th IGC will take place in New Delhi, India, on 2â??8 March 2020. Three sessions, in particular, could be of interest to volcanologists: *15.1 Continental Flood Basalts and related volcanics: Current status of knowledge and future work possibilities* *15.2 Island Arc volcanics* *15.3 Volcanism and its influence on human civilization* The program also includes relevant sessions focusing on geochemistry, igneous petrology, geohazards, and kimberlites.
