Dear all,

A few months ago, we launched an appeal to those who identify as a volcano
scientist working in a resource-limited context, to take part in an online
survey on their experiences and challenges related to undertaking
volcanology and international collaborations. This survey had been
developed in conjunction with a workshop entitled â??Fostering Developing â??
Developed Country Partnerships for the Advancement of Global Volcano
Scienceâ??, held at the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre
from 4-7 June 2019.

Both the survey and the workshop formed part of initial activities to
inform the establishment and the functioning of a new community-driven
network within IAVCEI, with the the aim to facilitate and enhance the
active integration of volcano scientists working in resource-constrained
contexts (i.e. mainly within Low- to Middle- Income Countries) into the
global volcanological community.

Reports on the survey and workshop will be circulated soon through the
IAVCEI Newsletter and other channels, but in the meantime, we would like to
invite all who are participating in the IUGG General Assembly in Montreal
this and next week, and who have an interest in this network, to join us
for an informal progress meeting. This will take place on *Monday 15th July
from 3 â?? 5 pm in Room 523B*. For those of you navigating the online
programme, it is listed under Workshops: â??IAVCEI â?? Developing Nations
Network: Inauguration and Progress Updatesâ??.

We hope to see many of you there. Of course, if you canâ??t attend and/or
have any questions about the new network, donâ??t hesitate to get in touch
with us.

Best regards,
