Dear all,
The International Volcanic Health Hazard Network, in association with the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and the Hawaii State Department of Health are pleased to announce new guidelines and information on community protection from vog (the gases and particles associated with emissions from Kilauea Volcano).
The new products (a booklet, rack brochure and poster) are tailored to the lifestyles of the Hawaii communities, but will also be of interest and use to other communities affected by chronic exposure to emissions from degassing volcanoes.
The information is downloadable from a new online, interagency ‘vog dashboard’ http://www.ivhhn.
The new interagency partnership was formed to implement recommendations from a social study on how the Hawai’i Island communities currently protect themselves from vog and how their actions relate to the official advice. For more information please see the following USGS press release https://www.usgs.gov/
