Hi
For the third consecutive year, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and the Observatoire du Piton de la Fournaise organize an AGU fall meeting session.
Details are below.
Do not hesitate to participate in 2016 at this session that will be probably a success as it was for previous editions.

sincerely

V016:
Magma Plumbing, Transport and Eruption at Basaltic Volcanoes. Focus on Hawaii and La Réunion systems.

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 13431

Session Description:
Improved monitoring and real-time observations of processes at basaltic volcanoes present expanded possibilities for understanding magma storage, transport, eruption, lava flow emplacement and associated risk. In addition, our knowledge of how eruptions are triggered, and the controls on eruption style has evolved markedly in recent years, as a consequence of improved monitoring networks, integrated studies, better quality data and better communication toward civil protection and population (before, during and after volcanic crisis). Appropriate incorporation of recently derived interpretations will enhance the development of numerical and physics-based models. We welcome multidisciplinary observations and models of transport, plumbing, eruption, monitoring network installation strategy, technical updates, risk perceptions and civil protection protocoles at Hawaii and La Réunion first but also for whole basaltic volcanoes in a range of tectonic settings, but particularly at hotspot volcanoes.
