We invite you to join invited speakers Jon Egill Kristjansson (University of Oslo) and Nancy Tuana (Penn State University) and submit a presentation to our Fall AGU Session, “Multi-disciplinary Assessments of Radiation Management Geoengineering,” Session ID#: 12669, Primary Section/Focus Group: GC

Conveners: Ben Kravitz, Alan Robock, Simone Tilmes, Trude Storelvmo

Session Description:  Geoengineering (also known as climate engineering) is receiving increasing amounts of attention and may become an important part of the discussion about how society will address climate change. There are numerous proposed ideas that fall under the umbrella of Radiation Management Geoengineering (abbreviated geoengineering here), including idealized solar reduction, stratospheric aerosols, marine cloud brightening, surface albedo modification, and cirrus cloud thinning. In this session, we explore the latest discoveries in geoengineering research, as well as the broader context of geoengineering as a potential means of addressing climate change. Example topics could include
(1) Climate model simulations of geoengineering
(2) Integrated assessment modeling of potential roles of geoengineering
(3) How geoengineering could affect vulnerability and resilience to climate change
(4) Impacts assessment studies of geoengineering
(5) Engineering assessments of the potentials, limitations, and feasibility of geoengineering
(6) Analogues of geoengineering
(7) Roles of field experiments and their potential designs
(8) Social, political, and ethical assessments of geoengineering

Deadline is 3 August, 11:59 P.M. EDT
