Dear all,

The workshop "Volcanic Ash as an Active Agent in the Earth System (VA3): Combining models and experiments", will be held at Institute of Geophysics, University of Hamburg, Germany, on 12-13 September 2016.

Topics: The primary topics of the workshop are the state-of-the-art experimental and modeling techniques to study volcanic ash surface with respect to:

  1. Physical, chemical and mineralogical properties
  2. Generation and volcanic processing
  3. Atmospheric transport and processing
  4. Environmental and climatic impacts

The workshop aims to integrate the recent developments in this field and to foster the collaborations between laboratory, field and modeling investigations.

Confirmed Lecturers:

Organizers: Ali Hoshyaripour (gholamali.hoshyaripour@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx), Matthias Hort (matthias.hort@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ), Jens Hartmann (jens.hartmann@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx)

EXTENDED deadline for application: 15.07.2016

Registration fee: There is no registration fee, but advanced registration for the workshop is required. Since the space is limited, reservations will be accepted in the order they are received.

The workshop is targets the PhD students, postdocs and experienced scientists working in various research disciplines but on topics directly related to volcanic ash.
