Lecturer — Earth and Environmental Sciences

            The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a full-time Lecturer Faculty (Doctoral Schedule) position beginning September 1st, 2016. The successful candidate will (1) hold a Ph.D. in Earth and environmental sciences or equivalent by the starting date of this position, (2) show evidence of success as an educator at the college or university level, and (3) have the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Evidence of scholarly achievements is an asset. The Lecturer’s primary task will be to perform teaching of introductory environmental science and geology courses. There may also be opportunities to develop advanced courses in his/her area of expertise, which may include — but is not limited to — Earth systems and environmental science and policy. This position is teaching-focused, typically involving 4 course sections per term. After five years of service, the Lecturer is eligible for a certificate of continuous employment (CCE), which is the equivalent of tenure for faculty hired to teach and perform related faculty functions, but without a research requirement.

 

The SEES community includes 15 full-time faculty members, 25 Masters and PhD candidates, and approximately 150 Geology, Environmental Science, and Environmental Studies majors.
