Dear VOLCANO subscribers,
this is the final call for the
IAVCEI/IASPEI – Commission on Volcano Seismology Annual Workshop
titled “Detecting unrest in seismic signals”
and co-sponsored by the European Seismological Commission Working
Group on Volcano Seismology
Dates: November 7th – 13th, 2015
LOCATION
Puerto Lago, Ecuador
Puerto Lago is a magical spot nestled in a beautiful Andean valley, on
the shores of the peaceful San Pablo lake and surrounded by indigenous
communities and volcanic peaks.
The Annual Workshop of the IAVCEI/IASPEI – Commission on Volcano
Seismology will include both invited talks and presentations of
participants. As usual, we will all stay in the same hotel and at
evenings we will have plenty of time for open discussions and ideas
exchange. During the second part of the meeting, besides the regular
presentations, actual data -and metadata- from recent Cotopaxi volcano
unrest will be provided in order to have some discussion on Cotopaxi´s
activity and to open an academic discussion of seismic features that
have been observed.
PROGRAM
Nov. 8th
Visit to the Ecuadorian Geophysical Institute. Presentation of
volcano monitoring system. Visit to eastern valley of Quito, which is
currently being threatened by Cotopaxi volcano
Nov. 9th
AM Introduction. Talks of participants
PM Lecture “Seismic interpretation tools in a wide spectral band” by
Jurgen Neuberg.
Workshop about recent techniques for analyzing seismic signals
Nov. 10th.
AM Talks about Cotopaxi activity
PM Workshop for analyzing seismic activity of Cotopaxi. Data will be
provided to participants.
Nov. 11th .
Visit to volcanic centers
Nov. 12th
AM Talks of participants
PM Continuation of Cotopaxi workshop
Nov. 13 th
AM Talks of participants
PM Workshop conclusions. End of workshop
