The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) seeks a Health and Environmental Geochemist, GS-12 or GS-13. This is a permanent Interdisciplinary research position within the National Research Program - Western Branch in Menlo Park, CA.

 

Some of the duties include:

• Devise and lead comprehensive earth science investigations that enhance understanding of the effects of volcanic emissions on human and livestock health.

• Lead quantitative geochemical investigations to determine the fate of magmatic and geothermal substances in streams, lakes, reservoirs, aquifers, and agricultural soils.

• Improve and develop sampling techniques and protocols, laboratory methods and procedures.

• Plan, conduct, and lead studies that characterize the impacts of geothermal energy development on water quality and the environment.

• Develop innovative geochemical data collection and analysis methods and techniques.
