2nd Workshop on Volcano Geology - final
program
The 2nd workshop on Volcano Geology, hosted
by IUGG meeting on 2nd July, Club A from 8.30 A.M., is the ideal
prosecution of the first one, held in Madeira (Portugal) in July 2014.
It also represents the occasion to present the program and the aims of
the new IAVCEI commission on volcano geology.
The workshop will be focused on discussing
the state of the art and perspectives of geological studies in
volcanology, which are the baseline for the understanding of volcanic
activity behaviour, and the ultimate data against which to validate
any numerical simulation.
Program
8.30
Introduction and presentation of the agenda
Short introduction of the stratigraphic problems in volcanic areas
Discussion on stratigraphic units and tephrostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy, UBSU vs eruptive units
Guidelines to be prepared
10.30
Geological data base (from the outcrop scale to the geological map and the webgis)
Thematic maps
Tectonic structures of volcanic system
Geological data and maps for the geothermal exploitation
13.30
Geological maps and data for the hazard assessment
General discussion
a) future of the IAVCEI Commission on Volcano Geology
b) organization of the Volcano Geology commission
c) Working groups for guidelines, 3rd workshop organization, and other relevant topic
d) 3rd workshop
e) Next activities
f) Guidelines
g) Thesaurus
h) Mailing list and website
i) others
We hope to see you in Prague, the 2nd July in the Club A
Best wishes
Gianluca (on the behalf of the scientific committee)
