Call for Papers: Special Issue of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta on “Magmas and their sources: A tribute to Fred Frey”

Papers are solicited for a new Special Issue of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta (GCA) organized around the theme of geochemical research related to magmas and their sources with an emphasis on work related to the pioneering geochemical studies of Fred Frey, a former editor for GCA. This issue is an outgrowth of a special session of the 2014 Geological Society of America National meeting in Vancouver, Canada where Fred Frey received the 2014 MGPV Distinguished Career Award. He has devoted his career to studying magmas, their sources and formation. This special issue will present research by those who were inspired by or worked with this distinguished geochemist.

Management Plan.  High quality manuscripts that focus on current and critical issues of broad interest to the geochemical community are required for this Special lssue. A team of guest editors led by Michael Garcia (managing guest editor) with J. M. Rhodes, Fred Frey (former GCA associate editor), and Rosemary Hickey-Vargas with the help of GCA Associate Editor Shichun Huang with the review of manuscripts for this special issues with the assistance of the GCA Executive Editor, Marc Norman. This team will vet each manuscript for suitability of topic, scope, and language usage prior to formal submission of the manuscript to GCA. All manuscripts will undergo the normal processes of internal review by the GCA Editorial Board and external review under the supervision of an Associate Editor and Guest Editor.

Submission Preparation. Full guidelines for manuscript preparation are posted to Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta’s online Guide for Authors here:
