This is a preliminary notification that the USGS Volcano Science Center (VSC) and the USGS Volcano Disaster Assistance Program (VDAP) are looking for one or more computer specialists-programmers to join our team in Vancouver, WA.

Specific duties of the position(s) will include:

- Develop, test and document software and instruments for use in data acquisition systems used in monitoring volcanoes and to facilitate analysis of data.

- Track the status and development of software packages among other volcano monitoring groups in the U.S. and internationally, and adopt or adapt other groups' code for USGS use.

- Support USGS and partners in the use and maintenance of software during crisis response and infrastructure development missions.

- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, IT professionals, and IT developers in the USGS Volcano Science Center and with domestic and foreign partners to assure all software developed is consistent with requirements.
