BSc, MSc and PhD students,

 

Escape the northern winter for a South Pacific summer and gain geological and travel experience on an active plate boundary in New Zealand.

 

Massey University now offer a 36 days geology field camp and registration is open for the

 

Geology Field Camp New Zealand - International Field Course on Understanding the subduction factory from the Gondwanaland plate margin evolution to the development of Zealandia.

 

December 28th 2015 - 1 February 2016

 

The participants will gain experience on

1)      Geological mapping/structural geology

2)      Glacial and tectonic geomorphology

3)      Metamorphoc core complexes

4)      Sedimentary environments and basin evolution

5)      Quaternary tectonics and sea level changes

6)      Volcanology/tephrostatigraphy

7)      Volcanic hazard and volcano monitoring

8)      Geothermal resources

In addition the participants will experience an extensive travel through prime locations in North and South Island.

The course is an official course of the Massey University and can provide 6 credits for USA-enrolled students.  The course is also available as a personal interest course (no credits)
