Dear All,
(with apologies for multiple postings)
We welcome applications to take part in the “EarthCube Domain End-User Workshop: Community-Based Cyber-infrastructure for Petrology and Geochemistry”, to be held on March 6-7 at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. If you see yourself as a potential stakeholder in the future of digital infrastructure in the broadly defined fields of petrology, mineralogy, volcanology and geochemistry, then this workshop is for you. Early career scientists, post-doctoral researchers, and senior graduate students are particularly encouraged to apply and take part in formulating the future needs of cyber and physical sample resources that will facilitate and further science in this field.
The two-day workshop will begin at 8:30 am on Wednesday March 6th and conclude in the late afternoon on Thursday the 7th. There will be an early evening reception the night of the 6th and behind-the-scenes access to Smithsonian’s National Collections in the Department of Mineral Sciences. The travel costs of accepted participants will fully or largely be reimbursed through an NSF grant. To learn more and apply, please visit and register at –

Applications will be accepted until the workshop is full (~100 participants).
Regards,
(The Organizing Committee of the E3-Domain workshop for Petrology and Geochemistry)
Elizabeth Cottrell (Smithsonian Institution)
Kerstin Lehnert (LDEO, Columbia University)
