Tephra fallout associated with renewal of explosive activity along the volcanic Cordilleran region represents a serious threat to surrounding urbanized areas. Airborne ash has impacts on public health and affects aerial navigation.Assessing hazards from tephra fallout and forecasting tephra dispersion are fundamental for public safety in volcanic areas. To this purpose, it is important to apply methods able to predict ground ash loading and atmospheric ash concentration and it is necessary to integrate field observation and laboratory study with numerical models. Contributions that combine different methods for tephra fallout hazard assessment of America's explosive volcanoes are welcome.
