Hello!

Please feel free to ciruclate this job posting to your colleagues and students. Thank you!

The Department of Geological Sciences seeks applications from neotectonicists who are interested in teaching and research in a geologically and culturally diverse environment in the Rio Grande rift of southern New Mexico for a permanent, 9-month, tenure track position as Assistant Professor.  The Department values a balance of teaching and research and is in a phase of restructuring after multiple retirements.  We seek individuals interested in building a department that will meet geoscience challenges of the 21st century.  We offer the BS and MS degrees in geology.  The successful candidate will participate in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise undergraduate and graduate research projects, develop and maintain a dynamic research program, contribute service to the department, university, and geologic community, and may participate in outreach programs.  PhD in geology in the field of neotectonics is required.  Applicants with field-based research programs are preferred.

Submit the following in a single pdf file to Dr. Jim Murphy, Chair of the Search Committee at geosearch@xxxxxxxx:  cover letter, CV (including publication list), statement of research interest, statement of teaching philosophy, list and contact information for at least three references.  Applications will be considered beginning November 12, 2012 but the search will continue until the position is filled.
