Professor of Geology - School of Environment

The Faculty of Science wishes to appoint a top international scholar to provide leadership in Geology and the development of the Earth Sciences within the School of Environment at the University of Auckland. The position affords exciting opportunities to undertake research and deliver teaching and learning in the dynamic geologic settings of New Zealand and the SW Pacific.

The School of Environment teaches and researches in the disciplines of Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Management and Geographical Information Science. The School comprises a team of academic and professional staff and a lively postgraduate and undergraduate community all of whom are focused on achieving excellence in research, teaching, learning and service to the community. The School has recently embarked on a programme of investment in the Earth Sciences, complemented by the development of a new undergraduate programme in Earth Sciences.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership in the discipline of Geology and encourage the continued development of a high quality research, teaching and learning environment that will produce world-class research and innovation and foster mutually beneficial relationships with the private and public sectors. They will also be expected to engage proactively at the School, Faculty, University, national and international levels.
