OSOP announces International Training Workshop in Volcanic Seismology

Attention Volcano Seismologists: OSOP is pleased to
announce it will host an international training workshop in volcanic
seismology in Volcan, Panama
Date: 24-February to 9-March, 2013
Location: OSOP, Volcan Baru, Panama
Registration Deadline: 3-December, 2012 (or the Monday after Cities on Volcanoes 7)
Workshop Description:
OSOP will be
hosting a week-long training program in volcanic seismology and
seismo-acoustics, including hands-on training in the methods of
automated data acquisition and processing. The program is directed at
observatory personnel, research scientists and graduate students alike.
Lectures will be offered in English and Spanish. The course will be
largely based on the recent publication:
V.M. Zobin Introduction to Volcano Seismology, 2nd Edition, Elsevier, 2012, 482 p.
The
program includes a field excursion to Baru volcano. Activities will
include field geology, deposit characterization and hazard mapping.
