Please see the advertisement below for the next round of the Institutional Postdoc program in the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. The College has a number of researchers working in various volcanological/mineralogical/petrological fields that would represent suitable mentors for potential postdocs.

CEOAS/OSU Postdoctoral Research Associate Opportunities

The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at Oregon State University, Corvallis Oregon, invites applications for two Institutional Postdoctoral Research Associate positions. One position will focus on the human dimension of the Earth System and Geographical Sciences. The other will address physical, chemical, biological, and/or geological aspects of the Earth System. CEOAS puts high value on emerging research areas that transcend traditional discipline boundaries, and on the ability of researchers to work in collaborative teams. Awards are competitive, with a major emphasis on potential for independent grant-funded research.   Positions are F/T, 12-mo, fixed-term; renewal is at the discretion of the Dean. If renewed, the university-funded FTE would be 0.75 in year two and 0.5 in year three.  FTE may be increased with external funding generated by the appointee.   Each postdoc will be paired with appropriate faculty mentors for training in the development and submission of fundable research proposals, research collaboration, and publication of results. CEOAS Institutional postdocs will be encouraged to seek external funding, and may serve as PI or co-PI on grant proposals.  Following the training period, opportunity may exist, based on mutual agreement of the College,  the candidate, and in accordance with university procedures, to change the position to a research or tenure-track status. Requires completed Ph.D. degree in general area of Earth System Sciences or related field prior to appointment. We encourage applicants to contact CEOAS faculty members with research interests fitting the proposed work. For additional information, see http://ceoas.oregonstate.edu/. To apply, see http://oregonstate.edu/jobs, posting 0009314. For questions contact CEOAS HR Coordinator, Sarah Haluzak, +1-541-737-5194. For full consideration apply by September 1, 2012. OSU is an AA/EOE.
