We invite your participation in the following Special Session at the 2010 GSA meeting in Denver, Colorado.

Session T60: Volcanic and Landscape Evolution of the Jemez Mountains Volcanic Field

Presentations in this session will highlight new interpretations of geochronology, geochemistry and stratigraphic data gathered during recent 1:24,000-scale surface mapping in the Jemez Mountains and Valles Caldera, and environmental drilling at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In addition, we invite presentations discussing new results from past and recent scientific drilling within Valles caldera.

We particularly welcome papers on the following topics but any new and innovative research within the Jemez volcanic field and surroundings will be considered:
1. Revisions in mapping and stratigraphy in and around Valles Caldera and Jemez volcanic field
2. New geochronology on any and all units in the Valles-Jemez region
3. Geomorphic evolution of Valles caldera and surrounding landscapes in the Jemez Mountains
4. Hydrogeology of significant water-bearing formations
5. Petrology and geochemistry of all rock units, including Bandelier Tuff and post-caldera rocks
6. Revised estimates and concepts of eruption volumes, eruption impacts and eruption mechanisms
7. Drilling interpretations (new and revised) bearing on hydrologic units, climate change models, ore deposit analogues, geothermal potential, intracaldera structure, and surrounding stratigraphy.
8. Recent geophysical investigations from surface and subsurface data sets.

Conference Dates: October 31- November 3, 2010
Abstract Deadline: August 10, 2010
