Paperback version of the Krakatoa Report

Dear all,
There is now a paperback version of the Report of the Krakatoa Committee of the Royal Society, published by BiblioBazaar LLC of South Carolina(released 4 Feb 2010), ISBN number, 1143744594, which is sold in the UK between £24 and £50. It bears the name of the Royal Society on the cover (though it has a spurious colon in the title and does not mention the original editor) and the book therefore could easily mislead researchers, like it did myself, to believe that it is an official copy of the fine work of Symons, Judd, Wharton et al.
Actually it is a print of a scan of a bound copy; it seems to be the same abominable scan promulgated by Google where the scanner had failed to even unfold the charts before scanning. A lot of the scientific information such as the bathymetry and tide gauge data is therefore missing, and Ashcroft’s fine sketches of the sky over Chelsea are reduced to muddy greyscale. Similarly the other colur plates such as the microscopy of dust samples and pumice, are reduced to meaningless squiggles.
If anyone needs the scientific content of this publication for their own work I would not recommend touching this copy with a bargepole. The copy I bought was returned to Amazon the day after receipt.
