What: Free Public Open House at the US Geological Survey's Cascades Volcano Observatory
When: Saturday May 8, 2010 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Where: USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory, 1300 SE Cardinal Ct, Vancouver, WA 98683
(conveniently located on the east side of Vancouver in the Columbia Tech Park , near the corner of Mill Plain Blvd. and 164th Avenue)
Details: Explore volcano monitoring equipment, rocks, displays, hazards information, and volcano videos. Thanks to "green screen" technology, have your photo taken in the crater of Mount St. Helens! Record your recollections of Mount St. Helens' eruptions in our memory book. Bring your mystery rock and have it identified. Pick up a free new 30th anniversary Mount St. Helens poster.

Driving directions: From downtown Vancouver, take Wa Highway 14 east to 164th Ave (EXIT 8); turn left (north) on 164th Ave and go up the hill; travel about 1.4 miles to traffic light at SE Tech Center Drive and turn right; proceed to 4-way Stop (approximately 1/4 mile), and then continue straight. Turn right onto SE Sequoia Circle; immediately turn right onto SE Cardinal Court; road goes straight to the building parking lot.
