************************************************************************** CoV6 Session: 1.3 Volcano observation and monitoring From: "Jesús M. Ibáñez" <jibanez@xxxxxx> ************************************************************************** We would like to invite you to submit abstracts to the following session, to be run at the 2010 Cities on Volcanoes meeting in Tenerife - ABSTRACTS ARE DUE ON FEBRUARY 28, 2010 (see http://www.citiesonvolcanoes6.com/ver.php) Session 1.3 Volcano observation and monitoring. Volcano observation and monitoring is the most useful tool that scientific community has to understand and model volcanic processes. These observations could provide information on the nature and magma characteristics, the rate of the magma involved and ascent from the source area, information of the fractionation processes in the magma evolution, or magma accumulation and transport, and all together permit to estimate its evolution and short time forecast. Results provided from modern observation strategies could be used as early warning alerts in volcanic processes, including potential eruptions. At the present there are many examples where volcano monitoring has produced success alerts, reducing the damages and preparing authorities for the incoming event. In this session will discuss about the recent developments and applications of seismology, geodesy and geochemistry to volcano observation and monitoring. Here we invite presentations that could be related with the described topics or other associated with the session Convenors Salvatore Gianmanco (IT) and Naoyuki Fujii (JP) ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
