********************************************************************************** PhD position at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center From: Dr. Arnau Folch Duran <arnau.folch@xxxxxx> ********************************************************************************** The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has the possibility to apply for 1 FPI research contract. FPI's (in Spanish, "Formación de Personal Investigador") are 4-year grants/contracts funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science to develop a PhD in the framework of a National research project. In particular, this contract is linked to the project "Atmospheric transport models and massive parallelism. Applications to volcanic ash clouds and dispersion of pollutants at an urban micro-scale", starting on January 2010. We search for recently graduated students (preferentially in Engineering or Physics) with skills on programming. Some knowledge of Spanish is not strictly necessary, but will be a plus. Candidates must first pass a selection criteria imposed by the Ministry , which requires: i) to fill an on-line form (not available yet), ii) academic curricula (official translation is necessary for degrees from outside Spain) and, iii) incorporation to a PhD program of a Spanish University. The valid candidates will then pass a second selection. Call should open around 15th January 2010, with the whole selection process lasting some months. Final incorporation to BSC is expected not before August 2010.
