*********************************************************************************** New Chaiten images From: Richard Roscoe <rroscoe@xxxxxxx> *********************************************************************************** Dear Listserv members, numerous new images of the lava dome of Chaiten volcano and extensive photos documenting the state of Chaiten town and the plight of its inhabitants have been introduced onto the Photovolcanica webpage. http://www.photovolcanica.com/VolcanoInfo/Chaiten/Chaiten.html The north flanked was climbed on 2. and 6. December. Extrusion was only audible on the second visit. Incandescence was weak and could only be visualized from the south by long exposure night photography. Numerous parts of the dome showed weak incandescence on images. Levels of degassing fluctuated and only small amounts of ash appeared to be being released.
