CORPAIRE is a public corporation depending on the council of Quito (Ecuador) and aimed at controlling, monitoring, and improving the air quality of the Quito metropolitan district. As a result of a collaborative project with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC; Spain), CORPAIRE has recently installed and maintains a daily forecast system for ash fallout from Reventador, Guagua Pichincha and Cotopaxi volcanoes. The forecasting system contemplates three different scenarios for each of these high-risk volcanos and is based on coupling the WRF meteorological model with the FALL3D tephra dispersal model. Hourly maps of forecasted deposit thickness and ash concentration at 6000 m a.s.l. are upload daily at http://beta.corpaire.org/EmisionesWWW/ (in Spanish only)."
