You are cordially invited to submit a contribution to the following session at EGU 2010:

GMPV5
Complex processes in magmatic and volcanic systems. 2: experiments, theory, and modelling

Magmatic and volcanic processes are being increasingly unveiled as experiments, theoretical models and numerical codes are developed and applied to a variety of test cases and conditions. Many aspects concerning the chemical and physical state and evolution of magmas before, during and after eruptions can now be understood, and several processes can be modelled and interpreted. This session invites contributions focusing on advances in experimental, theoretical, and numerical work aimed at describing any aspect of the processes characterizing magma evolution and eruption dynamics, including, but not restricted to, the followings: multicomponent chemical equilibria and kinetics, magma rheology, deep magma dynamics, magma chamber formation and evolution, separation and dynamics of the gas phase, geothermal system chemistry and dynamics, crack formation and dyke injection, magma-rock interaction, magma ascent and fragmentation, volcanic conduit and near-vent dynamics, lava fountains, strombolian eruptions, volcanic jets and blasts, volcanic plumes and pyroclastic flows, lava flows and lahars. Contributions either dealing with specific test cases or presenting the results of parametric studies are welcome.
