Dear colleagues
I am looking for an outstanding young scientist for this project. Please pass on to those you may feel are qualified and interested.
I apologize for any cross-listing.

Postdoctoral Research Opportunity: Transient Volcano Deformation
Postdoctoral fellow sought for research on N.S.F. funded project to better understand volcanic deformation, subsurface magma migration, and seismicity related to dike intrusion. The project involves solid and fluid mechanical modeling of magma transport processes, seismicity rate changes related to intrusion, and modeling of geodetic observations on Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes. Candidate should have Ph.D. in Geophysics or related discipline, and expertise in one or more of the following areas: continuum mechanical modeling of active volcanic processes, seismology, and inversion of GPS and InSAR measurements for subsurface sources. The candidate should have good matlab programming skills and proven writing ability. The term is for one year, with a possibility of extension for a second year, starting January 1, 2010. Salary dependent on experience. Interested candidates should contact Prof. Paul Segall, Geophysics Department, Stanford University; segall@xxxxxxxxxxxx.
