Dear Friends,
We are organizing a session titled, "NH03: Remote Sensing of Natural Hazards" during Fall AGU meeting to be held in San Francisco, USA during December 14-18, 2009.
You can find details about the session on the following web site-
We would appreciate if you could submit your contributions to this important session. The dead line for the abstract submission is September 3.
We look forward to hear from you.
With best regards,
Ramesh (also on behalf of Wooil, Zhong, Vern)
The details of the session NH 03 is given below:
Multi satellite sensors are now capable of monitoring land, ocean and
atmosphere during day and night. Natural hazards such as earthquakes,
volcanoes, landslides, snow avalanches, droughts, dust storms, floods,
forest fires, harmful algal blooms, tsunami, subsidence,
cyclones/hurricanes are associated with the land, land cover, ocean and
atmosphere and coupling between land-ocean-atmosphere. The multi satellite
sensor data provide timely information about the risk prone regions to
monitor and evaluate ongoing changes associated with these natural
hazards, improve the ability to predict natural hazards and reduce their
impacts through better planning and mitigation.
The session will focus on papers that present new satellite observations,
innovative analysis tools, and advanced modeling techniques in monitoring,
mapping, damage assessment and early warning of natural hazards.
