The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol (UK) has an opening for a
Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in volcano geodesy. The fix-term contract is for a period of 4 years and is part of an externally-funded research project investigating the relationship between pluton growth and volcanism in the central Andes with involvement of research partners from the US and South America.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable individual that is interested in working on integrated geodetic investigations of a ground deformation anomaly applying GNSS and gravimetric methods. Prior experience with volcano geodesy/geophysics including gravimetry, data processing, mathematical modelling and interpretation is required.

Experience with instrument calibration and geodetic field procedures and protocols is desirable as well as good mathematical skills for data modeling incl. finite element techniques. The candidate is expected to spend considerable time in the field in South America and a good command of Spanish is of advantage.
The preferred start date for the position is October 1, 2009, but other start
dates will also be considered.
Applicants should send an e-copy of their detailed resume, a statement of research
