The University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand) is commencing a search for a suitably qualified individual to appoint to the position of Professor of Geology. The appointee, who may come from any area of expertise within the Earth Sciences, will have a PhD and a first-rate record in research and academic leadership, together with a demonstrated ability as a teacher. The appointee will be expected to complement and extend the research strengths of the Department of Geology and to take advantage of research opportunities in New Zealand. The Department of Geology is long-established and well-equipped, with a strong record of research and well-developed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Department was top-ranked for research in the New Zealand 2006 Performance-Based Research Funding (PBRF) assessment. Staff teaching and research range widely across the earth sciences.
