Post-doc GEOLAB - UMR 6042 CNRS - University Blaise Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand, FRANCE. Duration: 1 year (2009-2010 or 2010-2011) Coordination : Raphaël Paris POST-DOC: Modeling volcanic tsunamis. The aim of this post-doc is to develop a platform dedicated to the numerical modeling of volcanic tsunamis (pyroclastic flows, caldera, phreatomagmatic explosions and massive flank failures). All case-studies are documented with topographic and bathymetric charts, and field data (tsunami runups, deposits etc): Krakatau 1883, Karymsky Lake 1996, Reunion Island, Canary Islands, Cape Verde. This work is funded by the French ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) in the framework of the project "Vitesss - Volcano-Induced Tsunamis: numErical Simulations and Sedimentary Signature". Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent, previous experience in waves numerical modeling, English speaking required.
