PhD studentship for 3 years (2 + 1) starting from the 1-st of April 2007 is available at Centre for Geosciences at Frankfurt University (Germany) in the area of high-temperature centrifuge experiments with partially molten rocks. The project will involve development of a novel high temperature centrifuge furnace with controlled oxygen fugacity and techniques of grain boundary analysis by using SEM imaging and microprobing. Applicants must have a Master degree (or an appropriate equivalent) in Material Science, Physics or GeoSciences. Previous experience in using furnaces with controlled oxygen fugacity, scanning electron microscopy and microprobing would be advantageous.
