Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the session at the upcoming Joint Assembly of the AGU at Acapulco, Mexico, 22-25 May “Methodology to prepare Volcanic Hazard Maps: Geology, Gis Analyses, Simulation Software, And Examples”. Several volcanic hazards maps of active volcanoes have been proposed based on different methodological approaches, from pure geological and stratigraphical data to probabilistic estimation of hazard occurrence. We solicit contributions from geological and stratigraphical records of volcanic area to constrain their hazard, advanced modeling to reproduce different eruptive scenarios, also focused to understand limitation of such kind of tool, applications of GIS and statistical analyses, and examples of volcanic hazard maps. We hope a wide discussion about this important theme for the volcanological community.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions.

Convenors:

Lucia Capra, UNAM, Centro de Geociencias, Juriquilla, Queretaro: lcapra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:lcapra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
