Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw you attention on our following
session scheduled for the EGU General Assembly, Vienna,
Austria, 15-20 April 2007:

GMPV5: “Advances in the knowledge of the magmatic and
eruptive history of European active volcanoes”

Since the concentrated efforts of the EU supported program
on European Laboratory volcanoes, much progress has been
reached both in the general understanding of the volcanic
systems of the active or potentially active European
volcanoes, and in the broad aspects of hazard evaluation
and mitigation. Important eruptive phenomena and unrest
episodes have occurred and were analyzed in detail during
the past years. This session focuses on all aspects of the
volcanic history, on physical and chemical properties of
magmas, on the structural relationships and the magmatic
evolution of active European volcanoes. The main goal of
the session will be to offer a forum for the synthesis of
the different aspects of volcanic behavior relevant to the
understanding how volcanoes work. Contributions concerning
your studies on the cited topic are welcome.

Convenors:
Lucia Civetta, University of Naples and Istituto di
Vulcanologia e Geofisica-Osservatorio Vesuviano, Naples,Italy
Jörg Keller, University Freiburg, Germany

We would be glad if you considered submitting an abstract
for this session. Deadline for receipt of abstracts is 15
January 2007.
Abstracts should be directly submitted through the
meetings' WebPages.
