******************************************************************* Volcano Geodesy session at 2006 Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting ******************************************************************* From: Zhong Lu <lu@xxxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues, We would like to draw your attention to the Volcano Geodesy session at the WPGM in Beijing, 24-27 July 2006: Special Session at 2006 Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting (http://www.agu.org/meetings/wp06/) WGP08: Advances In Understanding Active Volcanic Processes In the last two decades, the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) have revolutionized the study and monitoring of active volcanoes. These techniques have documented patterns of deformation before, during, and after volcanic eruptions, and have provided input to quantitative physical models that explore various volcanic processes. This session will focus on new developments in the observation and interpretation of volcanic deformation based on GPS and InSAR measurements. We invite submissions from a wide range of topics including: (1) advances in the processing and analysis of GPS and InSAR data applied to volcanoes, (2) progresses in the modeling and analysis of volcano deformation using GPS and InSAR measurements together with other geophysical and geologic data, and (3) new insights into the role of deformation monitoring in volcano surveillance. Conveners: Zhong Lu (lu@xxxxxxxx), SAIC, USGS/EROS; Qingliang Wang (wangql.box@xxxxxxx), China Sesimological Bureau. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 16 March 2006. Thank you for your attention. ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
