[VLAN] Doubt regarding SVI

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi folks,

I have a small doubt about SVI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a doubt about how Inter VLAN Routing works. We configure SVI
interfaces on a router by using the command

int vlan<vlan-id> and corresponding ip address.

However no physical port is ever associated with the VLAN or SVI. My
question is to interface is a packet destined to a particular ip address
which belongs to a SVI, sent on(as the SVI is not associated with a port
itself)?

Thanks again,

Vishwas
