Subject: virt-clone and a .img file?

Hi list!

virt-clone’s documentation shows a user should use <filename>.img for the --file parameter for the vHD name of the cloned machine

What format does this file get created in? The original vHD is a .qcow2 file.

Should I have really just used <filename>.qcow2?

Or is the .img file created actually different than the .qcow2 original file?

Thanks!!
