Sure?

For years now, I've been running slow spinning disks on an VIA EPIA
board that theoretically delivers UDMA133, but never actually reaches
more than 30Mb/s transfer rate. Thats still enough to have several
concurring recordings, some instances of noad and a playback without any
problems.

You have any real world data on your disk speed? dd if=/dev/hda
of=/dev/null bs=16384 count=100000 for example?
