I have no narrowed it down yet but I changed order.conf from firstplugin secondplugin -thirdplugin -fourthplugin to: xineliboutput firstplugin secondplugin -thirdplugin -fourthplugin -osddemo status -svdrpdemo -svccli -dvbsddevice -hello -skincurses -svcsvr -pictures It now works. So, obviously one of the - ones was overriding the osd support in the xineliboutput plugin.
