I should also note; I am running vdr version 1.4.7.  I installed using
the following guide:
http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/DEBIAN_Compiling_VDR_Source_Packages

And am running ubunutu Feisty.

Everything else (that I've used so far) works.

Any help is greatly appreciated!  I'm stumped ;-).  When things get
down to the "permissions" level I get lost ;-).
