With a PJ I would suggest that the most critical thing to the setup after cabling is deinterlace quality. xine wins out on this. also best to use DVI where possible, ie any digital source. I've been using vdr-xine since its release and the combination has been stunningly stable. I've had more trouble with hardware than this software. I started with the oxine frontend and later eboxy. oxine is looking quite good again, although Im now working on my own using xulrunner. You can get away with not using a seperate frontend by adding more vdr plugins. I use the frontend to switch to a different xine setup to play dvds so I can get the best out of the material playing while using the same remote. The frontend is like a simple version of mythTV.
