I never tried it with DVD. 
If it doesn't work as expected, it should not use 'use Dolby Digital' 
setup option for playback.

the setup option 'use Dolby Digital' means "record DD" and "offer DD in 
the Audio menu". This should be fixed in the DVD plugin then.
