Once you've set it up and have lircd running, you can use it with VDR by compiling VDR with "make REMOTE=LIRC" It also includes a LCDproc driver (for use if you have the iMon VFD Display) this works fine with the lcdproc plugin for VDR (although I'm writing my own plugin which is better suited for 2x16 character displays.)
