As requested functions are now static, and old K&R style function declarations cease to exist. I also added few FIXME items where (IMHO) something has to be done, which is a reply to "It would be better to use a separate function for this task" comment. Yes, but later. I will now wait until Werners mingetty patches are done. After that, if there are any FIXME items left, I might look this source again. Assuming, of course, that the patches are accepted.
