Hi, I have merged a new command fstrim(8) from Lukas (also thanks to Eric). The command is a wrapper for FITRIM ioctl (kernel >= 2.6.36, supported for ext4 and planned for ext3 and gfs2 -- right?). fstrim is used on a mounted filesystem to discard (or "trim") blocks which are not in use by the filesystem. This is useful for solid-state drives (SSDs) and thinly-provisioned storage. http://git.kernel.org/?p=utils/util-linux-ng/util-linux-ng.git;a=commit;h=d9e2d0dd144c2c06bff590c35400965016e55b7c Karel -- Karel Zak <kzak@xxxxxxxxxx> http://karelzak.blogspot.com -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe util-linux-ng" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
