 blockdev(8) from u-l-ng 2.17 uses the new ioctls from kernel 2.6.32,
 try:

    blockdev --getiomin /dev/sda

 or sysfs provides topology information since 2.6.31, for example

    /sys/dev/block/<maj:min>/queue/minimum_io_size
