fdisk: alignment to physical sector boundary

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Currently fdisk does not care about alignment to physical sector boundary.
This is a real problem for incoming disks and RAIDs.

All changes introduced by these patches are backwardly compatible and
users with classic disks should not be affected.

Please, review this set of patches. The most important is the second patch
("fdisk: add basic routines for LBA alignment").

[PATCH 1/7] fdisk: read topology info from libblkid
[PATCH 2/7] fdisk: add basic routines for LBA alignment
[PATCH 3/7] fdisk: use minimal_io_size for the first partition
[PATCH 4/7] fdisk: print info and recommendations about alignment
[PATCH 5/7] fdisk: check for partition boundary
[PATCH 6/7] fdisk: align end of partition when defined by +size{K,M,G}
[PATCH 7/7] fdisk: offer aligned first sector
