Topic: Future of Land Imaging in the United States

The National Science and Technology Council in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President, is sponsoring a workshop on the future of land imaging in the United States.
The workshop is designed to inform the satellite data user community and industry of the planning process for establishing a long-term U.S. moderate-resolution (Landsat-type) land imaging capability under a stable and sustainable arrangement. The workshop will include an overview of the Future of Land Imaging Interagency Working Group process, followed by panel presentations from representatives of the nonprofit and commercial data user community and from representatives of the aerospace industry. Attendees will have an opportunity to express their views on future U.S. land imaging needs and capabilities.
Please note: The workshop’s focus is on the concept of an operational U.S. land imaging capability to come on line AFTER the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM).

National Science and Technology
Council
The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) was established by Executive Order on November 23, 1993. This Cabinet-level Council is the principal means for the President to coordinate science and technology across the diverse parts of the Federal research and development enterprise. Chaired by the President, the NSTC membership consists of the Vice President, the Science Advisor to the President, Cabinet Secretaries and Agency Heads with significant science and technology responsibilities, and other White House officials. An important objective of the NSTC is the establishment of clear national goals for Federal science and technology investments. The Council prepares research and development strategies that are coordinated across Federal agencies to form investment packages aimed at accomplishing multiple national goals. |
